waking up in a mud puddle
Spring SuiteI
i dreamt of you today, laughing
your crinkle eyes glinting at me, relaxed
your smile tinkled like the
rushing flow of newly released spring water
over coldly wintered rocks
your warmth and delight
took my breath away
you warrior – my golden-hearted lion twin
you were majestic on your radiant windhorse!
shine forth, sweet friend
forget not
the delight that rides you now!
this is how my heart remembers you
whole
healed
and shiningII
there’s something indelible
about newly hatched sunshine
reflecting warmly
off of lake water
that’s just emerged from it’s icy cocoonthere’s a quality of blue
perhaps a memory of winter’s chill
that the sunshine doesn’t quite know yet how to penetrateteased awake
by trailing buds on golding willow
and fluffing shivers of aging geese,
the pond learns itself again
in the new spring melodiesthe roots of trees
are lapping this up
the squirrels overjoyed
in their acorn dancesthe water revealing once again
it’s blue-green plumage
reveling in the seasonal transitionIII
we’re shy of being dazzled
but the diamonds of sunshine
on new-born water
could care less~March 19th, 2011
