Upaya Dharma Podcasts - Mindsight: Exploring the Neuroscience & Psychology of Awareness

Dan Siegel visits the Upaya Zen Center again to discuss Mindsight, his version of mindfulness practice that is based in neuroscience and attachment theory.

For those who are interested, he has several very excellent books. If you really want to understand the neuroscience of attachment, I recommend The Developing Mind - and for parents, Parenting from the Inside Out is a great guidebook for creating secure attachment in your child through mindful parenting.

Mindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformation (2010)
The Mindful Therapist: A Clinician's Guide to Mindsight and Neural Integration (2010)
The Mindful Brain: Reflection and Attunement in the Cultivation of Well-Being (2007)
Parenting From the Inside Out (2004)
The Developing Mind: How Relationships and the Brain Interact to Shape Who We Are (2001)

And now the new podcast:

Mindsight: Exploring the Neuroscience & Psychology of Awareness

Speaker: Dan Siegal, MD
Recorded: Wednesday Jul 7, 2010

Dr. Dan Siegal developed the concept of Mindsight while he was attending medical school as a way to see the internal workings of our mind through focused attention. Mindsight allows us to look inside our mind and reflect on our experiences. He claims that when our lives move away from harmony, we are either in a state of rigidity or chaos. He introduces 8 domains of integration as a way to personal transformation.
