Are Dreams Psychologically Significant?

Interesting discussion from the Wonderfest 2008, Festival of Science, featuring William Dement, Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Science, Stanford, and Sharon Keenan, Founder, School of Sleep Medicine, Palo Alto.

About Wonderfest: The San Francisco Bay Area Festival of Science

Wonderfest takes place at Stanford University and at the University of California at Berkeley on the first weekend of every November. The heart of Wonderfest is a series of science dialogues between articulate researchers in pursuit of public enlightenment.
Wonderfest’s Mission is to inspire and nurture a deep sense of wonder about the world. Through science education programs, Wonderfest aspires to stimulate curiosity, promote careful reasoning, challenge unexamined beliefs, and encourage life-long learning.

The description of Wonderfest, above, used to be true. However, now Wonderfest is "the Bay Area Beacon of Science." As a new independent nonprofit corporation, Wonderfest now presents MONTHLY public science events (rather than one annual festival). Stanford and UC Berkeley are still involved -- often supplying the scientific and educational "talent" that makes Wonderfest events special.
