Sensei Beate urges us to allow zazen to be a self-organizing process, and not expect a recipe. We cannot think it through. After all, what mental factors are present if there is no thinking on the cushion? The seated Buddha posture is a womb, a forge where a knowing beyond ordinary knowing appears. There is no recipe to this. Trust in the practice is required.
