Authors@Google: Chris Guillebeau - The Art of Nonconformity

Chris Guillebeau speaks to Googlers in Mountain View on December 8, 2010 about his book The Art of Non-Conformity: Set Your Own Rules, Live the Life You Want, and Change the World. The book is based on his blog (which I had never heard of, but that is not surprising) - check it out.

About the author:

Chris Guillebeau is on a quest to visit every country in the world before he turns 35 (he currently has 50 remaining out of 192) while writing for a small army of remarkable people. His book, The Art of Non-Conformity, and blog of the same name are aimed at helping people live unconventional lives, make their own choices, and change the world. Chris describes himself as a writer, world traveler, entrepreneur, and lifelong learner.

About the book: The Art of Non-Conformity, based on Chris Guillebeau's popular online manifesto "A Brief Guide to World Domination," defies common assumptions about life and work while arming readers with the tools to live differently. This book will help you discover how to live on your own terms by exploring creative self-employment, radical goal-setting, contrarian travel, and embracing life as a constant adventure.

Prior to embarking on his global journey, Chris served as a volunteer executive for a medical charity in West Africa from 2002-2006. He describes it as "thrilling, challenging, and exhausting; all good qualities to have in an adventure." He gave speeches to presidents, hung out with warlords, and continues to share his successes and failures as he travels the world.

Fun facts: Chris donates 10% of his income to Charity: Water and lives in Portland, Oregon (when he's not globe-trotting).
