Slavoj Zizek: God Without the Sacred

UPDATE: The video is FREE. When the preview starts, just click the "watch full program" button - and thanks to the anonymous reader who pointed that out!

From FORA.tv - a cool segment with Zizek, who seems to be the most popular philosopher on the planet these days. Unfortunately, it costs $4.95 to see it. This is just a preview.
The three religions of the Book each help us to differentiate the divine from the sacred. This liberating concept culminates in Paul's claim, from Ephesians, that "our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against leaders, against authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual wickedness in the heavens." Can religious fundamentalism be overcome only with the help of an emancipatory political theology? Philosopher Slavoj Zizek debates this and other incendiary questions on the LIVE stage.

This event is sponsored by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

  1. Hello. Thanks for the link! I wanted to let you know that the program doesn't cost $4.95. When I click on the embedded video and the preview starts, there's a "Watch Full Program" icon in the lower right corner. When I click that icon, it opens a new window and I can watch the full program for free. Just a heads up. Thanks again! The lecture is really quite good, I'm about an hour in. I recently finished reading Zizek's new collaborative book Paul's New Moment. Some of the material covered here is expanded upon in the book.
