WZEN - Abbot’s Discourse: Daido Roshi - Yantous Two Disapprovals

John Daido Loori, the American Zen Dharma pioneer, died this week at the age of 78. He had recently chosen to step down as Abbot General of the Mountain and Rivers Order due to illness. You can read more about his life, with lots of good links, at the Shambhala Sun site.

If we’re living our lives preoccupied about what others think of us, whether they approve of us or not, then we’re missing the wonderous truth of who we really are. When we study our minds deeply, we can discover a profound, unshakable trust in ourselves—a trust that transforms our very lives. This discourse, Yantou’s Two Disapprovals, True Dharma Eye, Case 273, was given at Zen Mountain Monastery in February of 2002 by John Daido Loori, Roshi, the abbot and founder of Zen Mountain Monastery.
