I'm short on time this morning, so I'll get in as much as I can (there's a lot to cover). I might update a little later. . . .
~ If there is a later. Today is supposed to be the end of the world. I figure if the world is going to go up in ball of nuclear fire today, it'll probably be a really cool light show. Much better than the lightning I'm enjoying right now.
~ Tusar N Mohapatram of SELF Forum posts a review of The Integral Advaitism of Sri Aurobindo by Ram Shankar Misra.
~ A while back, Dave at How to Change the World posted on his efforts to treat his ulcerative colitis with nutrition and assorted other approaches. He has now posted an update on that effort. Please be warned, Dave is one of those people who believe that HIV is not the direct cause of AIDS. This makes me skeptical of anything else he might say about illness.
~ Alan Cook at Milinda's Questions has become a new voice in the Buddhist "round up" game. Thanks to Tom at Blogmandu, the godfather of Buddhist roundups, for the tip.
~ Brian informs us that Zaadz has created an "easter egg" in the system that is the equivalent of a Tibetan prayer wheel. Each time a page request is made at Zaadz, the mantra Om Mani Pema Hung (Om Mani Padme Hum in Sanskrit) is released. As of now, this mantra has been released over 7 million times.
~ Ajahn Punnadhammo at bhikkhu blog has a great post on Fundamentalism and Triumphalism. Check it out.
~ Nagarjuna at Naked Reflections has a nice post on True Love -- not what you might think from the title.
~ CJ Smith posts on Christian Symbolism and allegorical religion, as requested by Tuff Ghost.
~ Dave at Via Negativa shares his picture-taking adventure, with some nice shots.
~ Mike at Unknowing Mind (in a guest post at A Pagan Sojourn) tried to describe his path in 300 words or less -- he ended up with 438.
~ Check out Jay's Sugar Rush at The Zero Boss.
~ Alexis at Zaadz figures if today IS the end of the world, there's no harm in posting some humor.
~ P2P Foundation has a post that is too interesting to summarize, so go read Awe and Shock with Critical Realism: is it compatible with P2P?.
Okay, I'm out of time. I'll be back in a bit over an hour and add the remaining links I didn't get to.
*****
And I'm back.
~ From Buddhism at About.com:
Iceland was the country that embraced evolutionary theory the most and Turkey the least. The USA was just above Turkey. 40% of Americans surveyed did not believe in evolutionary theory as opposed to 40% that did. 20% said they were unsure. The brief article is about Buddhism and evolution, which are perfectly compatible.
~ More great del.icio.us links on the peer-to-peer movement in all its manifestations at the P2P Foundation.
~ Sujatin at lotusinthemud has posted a conversation with Marshall Rosenberg, the father of nonviolent communication. This is a good read.
~ Ripped from the news, an example of magical thinking that just makes me want to say, "Hmmmm."
Dozens of Nepali women stripped naked and plowed their fields in west Nepal, hoping to appease the gods and get some much needed rain, a newspaper report said Sunday.~ Moving right along . . . Disinformation is hosting the World Stupidity Awards (still time to vote). Please note that these awards are extremely anti-Bush/Cheney, et al.
~ Over at Truthdig, Sam Harris rips The Language of God, a new book by Human Genome Project head Francis Collins, into small useless shreds in an article called The Language of Ignorance.
~ There's new evidence for "dark matter," the invisible stuff that makes up (apparently) around 70 percent of the universe. This is a real big deal in the science world.
~ According to a new Time Magazine poll, Hillary leads Al (46% to 41%) among Americans who'd vote for a Democrat. Republicans don't like her or trust her, though.
~ According to The Red Herring, Thais will be the first to try out MIT's $100 computers.
Okay, that's more than enough.
