Is anyone trying to explain how gravity "arises" from matter?
Why do we stay stuck on the dualistic idea that physical world and inner world (consciousness) are something different?
Catholic Church, Pascal and Newton used to think there is a "soul" AND a "body", loads of years ago, but if we don't change the assumption we will never find any answer!
Trying to "derive" consciousness from matter is like expecting meat to "spontaneously produce" flies as ancient Greeks did.
All the studies you smartly quoted and linked here, are more likely pointing to a different scenario: consciousness as a sort of "property" of the energy/matter, MANIFESTING (possibly) thorough the processes listed in your article.

I've got the feeling that to disprove any religious-like or dogmatic view of the world, people interested in science development are actually obtaining the contrary effect!

Just think about it mate. You are giving an assumption like "matter->consciousness" for granted in the same way Inquisition gave for granted that "God moves the skies" (so that scientists HAD to explain planetary movements FROM that).

If we didn't change point of view in the way we study the micro-world (quantum physics), staying stuck with the old Newtonian Mechanics, we could NEVER understand how atomic and subatomic reality work: the basic assumptions were just wrong!

In a similar way I strongly suggest to leave the behind us the fantasy of consciousness as "some-thing" separated from what you call "inert" matter (but out of which we then expect consciousness to randomly/spontaneously emerge). Instead let's try to work out a new general model of neuroscience which takes into account a more logic and rational link between Fundamental Forces, Quantum discoveries, Relativity, Energy/Matter interlink AND Consciousness.

...Just an opinion....Stupid2012noreply@blogger.com
