But I tend to take a Jungian approach to this idea -- what isn't integrated is projected.

If we are in need of guidance and don't know how to access it from within ourselves, psyche will project that need onto people we come in contact with who can fill that need for us.

And for those who see things from a magical/mythic viewpoint, this can manifest as angels, spirit guides, and so on.

Whatever works.

Peace,
Billwilliam harrymanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06981478282688361274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13617569.post-49897829309182619612007-12-08T12:42:00.000-07:002007-12-08T12:42:00.000-07:00"The whole thing about unseen helpers and guides i..."The whole thing about unseen helpers and guides is a bit woo woo for me -- these are simply parts of ourselves that we haven't integrated."

Another way I have opened to looking at this concept is that helpers and guides also take the form of people in our lives, whether family, friends or a random "stranger" in the grocery store, or even a tree, for that matter. While they are, in a relative sense, external to the subjective self, they offer a mirror. Some of us see hate or judgement reflected back; some see love and inspiration. These guides are a critical part of the human experience, offering information to help us move closer to wholeness, if we so choose.

Thanks for the increased traffic recently, BTW. 8)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
